Quill KeyboardPrivacy Policy — Quill Keyboard

Quill Keyboard ("the app", "we", "us") is a custom iOS keyboard that adds AI-powered text actions to any app, using an AI provider API key that you supply ("bring your own key"). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Short version: We have no user accounts and no servers that store your content. We use no analytics or advertising and we do not sell or share your information. Your API key stays on your device. Text you choose to process is sent directly from your device to Anthropic using your own key.
Information the app handles
Your API key. When you paste an Anthropic API key into the app, it is stored only on your device and shared between the app and its keyboard extension. It is never transmitted to us and we never see it. It is sent only to Anthropic, as the credential for your own requests.
Text you choose to process. When you tap an AI action, the relevant text — your current selection or the text near your cursor (up to about 700 characters), or, for a clipboard action, the clipboard item you pick — is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection directly to Anthropic to produce a result. Text is sent only when you trigger an action; the keyboard does not transmit what you type in the background.
Clipboard. If you enable "Automatic clipboard capture", the app keeps a short local history (up to 20 recent items) on your device so you can reuse them. Clipboard text stays on your device unless you run an action that uses it as input, in which case it is sent to Anthropic like any other action text. You can turn this off at any time in Settings and you can clear the history.
Action library. The app downloads its list of available actions (titles, icons, and prompt templates — data only, no executable code) from our content endpoint. As with any internet request, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process your device's IP address to deliver the response. No account or personal data is sent with this request.
Information we do NOT collect
- No user accounts and no servers that store your content.
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising, or third-party tracking.
- We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell or share your information.
Third-party services
- Anthropic processes the text you submit through actions, under your own API account. That processing is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy and your Anthropic account terms: anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- Cloudflare hosts the action-library endpoint and may process request metadata (such as IP address) to serve it.
Data retention
Your API key, settings, and clipboard history live on your device and are removed when you delete the app. We do not retain copies because we never receive them.
Security
Connections to Anthropic and to our action endpoint use encrypted HTTPS. Your API key is stored in the app's on-device storage. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we minimize risk by keeping data on your device and not operating servers that hold your content.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
